19th BUSHO - STATISTICS OF ENTRIES - 2023

As every year, we dive into the sea of numbers to take a dip into this year’s 19th BuSho’s entry statistics. In the usual order of magnitude of many years, we have once again received nearly a thousand entries, most of which are fiction shorts, around 120 animated and 60 experimental works. Of course, feature, short, other, student or documentary are also included and will be classified after the screening.

Entries came from 68 countries, with 95 short films from Spain, 88 from Hungary, 65 from France, 60 from the UK and 55 from Germany. Of course, it’s not just Europeans, with 45 entries from the United States, 31 from Canada and 48 from Iran. In addition to the most unusual ‘Not Specified’, there were also short films from Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nepal, Palestine and Panama.

We will discuss the entrants and the studios in more detail after the announcement of the competition programme, which will take place on 1 May, until then focus on the jury, cheers to all!
