New look. Same festival.

In 2022, somewhat unbelievably, BuSho Festival is turning 18. But what does that mean exactly?

It means that we’ve raised another child of our own, it means that next year our festival officially becomes adult. Since the beginning, it seems like millennia have passed, if we only take a look at the technological evolution. At the first event we got VHS copies, then came the DVD era, and today all physical stuff are slowly disappearing from our lives. And this is just one of many reasons why and how the world around us is changing and we are changing with it as well.

At first, it was not only satisfying but exhilarating to present international short films in a festival. It was a great experience for everyone, as there was no other forum where they could be accessed. Today, however, we have accelerated to the point where almost any content is available anywhere, we only have to reach into our own pockets and the advent of online festivals (that do not exist for us) the ‘stay at home, watch TV’ generation is even stronger. Then slowly everyone stays at home and becomes so visually literate that they decide for themselves whether what they see is good or bad, rather than focusing on the social interaction that is the essence of the festivals. I hope I won’t be right, though!

In any case, now is the time to refresh and in the coming years we are going to give control to the youth, who are actually not so young, they have been with us for 5-6 years, so they know exactly what they are doing and even enjoy the challenge. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the current BuSho team will disappear, we are just regrouping our forces.

This is why we believed is time for a little change. We created a new design for the festival, of course with keeping the good old BuSho mask. We also made a new mobile-optimalised website, where you can see the latest news and info. So, if you are interested what happened before the change, click the ’archieve’ button, it takes you back in time.

Do not worry for a second, though! BuSho stays Busho, our festival is still going to take place without a red carpet and still going to have the unique BuSho vibe, it always have had.
